We have given thanks repeatedly for our GPS. Bill said if he wasn't so busy dodging cars on the skinny roads, he'd grab it and give it a hug! As a result, we have had no trouble making our way through back woods of the beautiful county of Kent. Until this afternoon. And the GPS was right of course. We just had a booking at a hotel in Ramsgate, not Canterbury. Only a 20 kilometre mistake but it didn't occur to us until our GPS told us to take the second exit off a roundabout when the sign clearly pointed out that, in order to go to Canterbury, we needed to exit on the third. Since I had a detailed map on my lap and used a certain tone, Bill found a place to pull over (not easy - the hedges are unforgiving). Sure enough, the address of the hotel which had been booked and paid for online, was not in the outskirts of Canterbury after all.
Soooo I have loads of time to write blog entries with good internet access and not that much to see in the port town of Ramsgate. If we wanted to take a boat to Belgium, we'd be in the right place! We're heading out later for a walk on the sea shore and might even see some white cliffs. I hear they have a nice church too....
Later:
No cathedral but an abandoned old stone church on High Street. Fish and chips! And a nice walk on the cliffs before the sun went down.
